WHEN SILENCE STARTED TALKING TO ME
WHEN SILENCE STARTED TALKING TO ME The World Became Quiet—and I
Finally Heard Everything Within Me. I was lying in sleepy mode. I wanted to sleep.
There was hardly any sound around me. And suddenly—Silence started talking to
me. I asked: “How can you speak? You are Silence.” Silence replied: “That is why
I am speaking.” I asked why it had become so loud. It answered: “Because everybody
listens to the noise outside. Nobody listens to me.” Then I asked the most
important question: “What do you want to tell me?”
Silence replied: “Everything I have been silenced about.” My pain. My sorrow. My happiness. My fears. My memories. My
gratitude. My unfinished conversations. My uncelebrated victories. Almost everything. And suddenly I understood: The
world had not become silent because there was nothing left to hear. The world had become silent so that I could finally hear
myself. I listened. I wept. And finally I told Silence: “From now onwards, I will listen to you.” Silence said nothing. It
became silent again. Perhaps that is all our inner voice sometimes wants. Not another solution. Not another achievement.
Not another distraction. Just—to be heard. When was the last time you listened to your Silence?
