THE MOUNTAIN’S GREEN BLANKET Do Your Karma. Surrender
the Rest. Mother Earth Is Already Carrying You. During
a monsoon journey on the highway from Jaipur to Delhi, Dr.
Abhishek Gilara noticed something he had seen many times
before—but this time, he saw it differently. The mountain chains
were completely covered in fresh green grass, plants and trees.
They appeared to be sleeping peacefully beneath an enormous
green blanket. And a simple observation became a profound
question:
If these giant mountains can surrender themselves completely to Mother Earth, why can’t we? A
mountain may be enormous to us, but to Mother Earth, it is still her child. Just as an adult never
stops being a baby in the heart of his mother, no matter how big we become, we remain children of
the Mother who created, nourishes and carries us. The Mountain’s Green Blanket is a reflection on
karma, surrender, faith, motherhood and our unnecessary habit of worrying about what lies beyond
our control. It does not ask us to stop working. It asks us to work completely. Do your duty. Act
lawfully. Follow your dharma. Give your complete effort. But when your karma is done, learn to
surrender the result. Because the mountain does not carry Mother Earth. Mother Earth carries the
mountain. And if she can carry mountains, perhaps your burdens are not as heavy for her as they
appear to you. Work like a warrior. Trust like a child. And when you have done everything that was
yours to do— rest assured like a mountain sleeping peacefully beneath its mother’s green blanket.
