DON’T RETIRE FROM YOUR ROUTINE — Old Age Is Not Only About

the Years You Have Lived—It Can Begin When You Start Surrendering

What You Are Still Capable of Doing. It began with a simple question in

the first hour of a morning at his showroom: “Where is he?” A staff member

known for years of discipline and punctuality had recently begun arriving

late. There was always a reason, and surprisingly, the reasons were genuine.

That observation led Dr. Abhishek Gilara to a much larger question: WHAT

HAPPENS WHEN GENUINE REASONS SLOWLY BEGIN REWRITING

OUR ROUTINES? Life will never run out of reasons—family, work, health,

travel, responsibilities, age and unexpected circumstances. Some must be

respected. Some require us to rest. Some require us to change completely.

But others ask us to adapt, reorganise and continue. The danger is not one broken routine; the danger begins when

“I couldn’t today” quietly becomes “I don’t anymore.” In DON’T RETIRE FROM YOUR ROUTINE, Dr. Abhishek Gilara

challenges the conventional way we think about ageing. A sixteen-year-old can begin withdrawing from learning,

discipline, responsibility and growth, while a ninety-􀏐ive-year-old, within his or her individual capacity, can remain

curious, engaged, spiritually alive and deeply connected with tomorrow. YOUTHFULNESS IS NOT DENYING YOUR

AGE. IT IS REFUSING UNNECESSARY SURRENDER. This is not a book about defeating biological ageing; it is about

preserving participation—not about remaining endlessly busy, but remaining engaged; not about refusing rest, but

knowing the difference between recovery and withdrawal; not about holding the same role forever, but continuing

to 􀏐ind purpose as the role changes; not about pretending the body has no limitations, but asking, “WHAT CAN I

STILL DO WITH THE CAPACITY LIFE HAS LEFT IN MY HANDS?” The routine of twenty may not belong at seventy,

and the routine of seventy may not belong at ninety-􀏐ive. Change it. Reduce it. Adapt it. Make it safer. Allow the next

generation to take over. But don’t automatically retire from curiosity, learning, movement within your capacity,

relationships, contribution, gratitude, spiritual growth, self-governance and purpose. Because a designation can

retire without the person retiring from life. Perhaps one of the greatest questions we can continue asking at every

age is not, “How many years do I have left?” but “WHAT IS MINE TO DO WITH THE DAY THAT IS STILL HERE?”

Give tomorrow something meaningful—a page, a prayer, a person, a walk, a lesson, a responsibility, a question,

something to create, something to give, something to learn, something to love. Because A ROUTINE DOES NOT

MERELY ORGANISE TODAY. IT GIVES TOMORROW A REASON TO EXPECT YOU. Let the years increase. Let the body

change honestly. Let the roles evolve. Let the next generation rise. But while meaningful capacity remains—KEEP

LEARNING. KEEP ADAPTING. KEEP CONTRIBUTING. KEEP LOVING. KEEP DOING YOUR KARMA. KEEP SHOWING

UP. Do not retire from the life that is still present.
