Why I Write: Beyond Sales, Beyond Popularity

Someone once approached me with an earnest offer:
“Sir, let me market any one of your books and make it the best-selling title in the country.”
I smiled, appreciated his enthusiasm, and responded gently:
“My aim is not to sell more and more books. My aim is to write more and more books.”
For me, writing was never intended to be a profession. I earn my living through my jewellery business—one that my family has nurtured across generations. Writing, on the other hand, began as something deeply personal. It was a way to express the life experiences that shaped me—the battles I fought, the victories I celebrated, and the wounds I learned to live with.
These reflections turned into words. Those words turned into books. And those books, I hoped, would help someone else navigate their own journey a little better.
The Misconception About Success
The gentleman tried to convince me again:
“But sir, you will become more popular with the tag of highest-selling author.”
I asked him a simple question:
“And what happiness lies in becoming popular?”
Think about it—many great kings built empires, palaces, and mighty legacies.Yet, how many of them does the world remember today?
Popularity fades.Fame dissolves.Applause stops.
What remains is only the impact you create.
Writing as Service, Not Strategy
For me, writing is a form of welfare. It is an offering.I share not just what worked for me, but also what didn’t.
Because sometimes, learning from another’s failure can save you years of struggle.
Real happiness does not come from the tag of being a “bestselling author.”Real happiness comes from giving back to society—not in the form of fame, but in the form of value.
The reward for pure intention is not applause. It is the silent smile of a life made a little easier, stronger, or brighter.
Measuring Worth Differently
I do not measure my writing in copies sold.
I measure it in:
Hearts touched
Minds opened
Lives improved
If even one person reads a page and finds courage, clarity, or comfort, the purpose is fulfilled.
And So, I Will Keep Writing
Not to be remembered. Not to chase numbers. Not to build an image.
But to help someone else keep moving forward.
Because words, when born from truth, do not need to be popular to matter—they only need to reach the right heart.
